Sing for Fun

by Amanda Frawley

Sing for fun, on the run.
Day night noon, if not in tune.
Take the time, find the rhyme.
Sing out loud, sing out proud.
Feeds the soul, fills the hole.
Beats depression and recession.
If you make, a mistake.
No-one moans, no-one stares.
No-one groans, no-one cares.
Sing for fun, everyone.
In a group, join the loop.
It wasn't me, who sang off key.
There's no pressure,
Sing at leisure.
No audition, no rejection.
All one voice, make the choice.
Sing for fun, everyone.

This poem was written by
Amanda Frawley who attends the Basingstoke workshop.

Testimonials

What our previous customers have to say about our workshops...

Thank you so much to you and Jane for such a wonderful day.  Both Martin and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to joining in again either on a workshop or some of the singing lessons.

Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and the whole day was very professionally organised. Jane is clearly extremely talented and her interaction with her "pupils" is first class putting everyone completely at ease even when things, at times, were not going exactly to plan!  Martin and I had never sung in a group like this before, but will definitely be doing it again.

We came home humming various songs that we had been taught today!  We are going to drive each other... and our dog mad! Thanks again.

Gem of a course can make you a singer

(Review of End of 10 Week Course Performance for family and friends)

If you are interested in music, Basingstoke is certainly the place to be! I thought I knew about most of the music-making that goes on in this town - but I was wrong.   I have recently come across a little gem, a 10-week course developed especially for people who want to get started doing something they believe they would enjoy if only they knew how to go about it.

Professional singing teacher Jane Dunton (now Cole) leads the course and, at the end-of-term get together for family and friends last week, it was obvious that this vivacious teacher knew exactly how to inspire her class. She chose music that would be familiar to them, such as excerpts from My Fair Lady, a Christmas Medley and the ever popular Somewhere Over The Rainbow, sung in amazing three-part harmony. How do you teach such a group of people who do not read music and are not even sure if they are singers (there is no initial audition) to sing in three-part harmony in 10 weeks?

Jane knows how, and a great deal of the technique is based on giving them confidence, then teaching the harmonies and the melody, which they already know. Believe me, it does work and the final result was truly remarkable.
